District of Dunchurch Brass

Janet & Colin Worrall		Band Badge. Hope you like it. We wanted something to celebrate the history of Dunchurch in our Band Badge. The village was an important staging post on the coaching roads between London and Holyhead. At one point it was said that nearly every building within the village was either a coaching inn or hotel – accommodating the 40 stagecoaches per day stopping at Dunchurch. Many of these old inns can still be seen today. One such inn is the 18th century Dun Cow Inn which had stabling for 40 pairs of horses. As a busy coaching village, many famous and important people have stayed in the village hotels over the centuries.

History of The District of Dunchurch Brass The Band was founded by Colin and Janet Worrall in December 2006. Mr and Mrs Worrall have been connected with Bands for many years. Mr Worrall`s family were the founders of another Brass Band, which Colin belonged to for many years along with Janet. After a 2 year break they decided to start a new Brass Band. The band started off with six players. Brand new Virtuosi Instruments and their own Band room. ------------------------------		-------------------------------- 22nd December 2006 = We played at an event for the Macmillan nurses, where a large amount of money was raised. This was our first booking. What a great way to start. On the 17th June 2007 The Band also played at The Dunchurch Park Hotel, this event was in aid of The Acorn Children`s Hospice. It was nice to be involved in both events, and to be able to give something back ------------------------------- 3rd January 2010 The bands starting to do very well. We had some new players coming along and join last year. It would be nice to have a few more empty seats filled in 2010 So that the band could start contesting. We have played at some lovely bookings, from Charity events and Fetes. The band also holds social events. Check out our Vacancies _-
